About the Podium

Since 1947, The PODIUM has served as the official publication of the two National Honorary Band service organizations, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. The PODIUM is the successor to Kappa Kappa Psi’s first publication, The Baton, which was published on a quarterly basis from 1922 to 1933. With the coming of the Great Depression and the Second World War, publication was discontinued on a regular basis, with only a few printed editions appearing between 1934 and 1947.

The PODIUM, a “show-window of the college band world”, serves as a snapshot of the Fraternity, Sorority, and the college & university band at the time.

Published across multiple mediums, The PODIUM articles cover a wide range of topics relevant to Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and the greater college band world. Articles aim to educate, entertain, and inspire those engaged in the exciting world of the college band through the exchange of ideas, experiences, and expertise.

The PODIUM is an ever-changing publication.

The PODIUM Online serves as the web home of the publication and produces exclusive articles, video content, and Fraternity & Sorority news.

PODIUM+ (Plus) is an e-newsletter version with news, announcements, and articles on timely topics in-between issues of The PODIUM print magazine.

The PODIUM strives for greater communication, education, and brand visibility to reach all students, alumni, directors, staff, and fans of the university band world.
